Cholesterol Reduction for Heart Health, weight control, liver health, and cancer prevention and control:

The Green Diet program that I followed for Lung health was an important milestone in my desire to improve health, but not enough. I had to be more aggressive with an additional program for Cholesterol. This plan I put together is the result of consulting with several people who have been fighting the Cholesterol and weight battle. I consulted with 4 doctors, two of which are PHDs. I also consulted with my herbologist in the USA, a vegetarian nutritionist at the Loma Linda Medical center, California, and another herbologist in Russia.

Click on NewsClinicalResults to see the studies that have linked high fat with accelerated prostate cancer and low fat with prostate cancer prevention. There is no doubt in my mind that prostate cancer thrives on fat.

Most traditional doctors will put you on Lipitor or a similar statin if your cholesterol is high. This is because statin medications are very effective and give the numbers that doctors want to see. At the end of your appointment, a doctor may give you a booklet to learn about low fat diets. Nobody reads those booklets.

Here is why most doctors have a backwards approach to the problem. A maximum dose of Lipitor, 20 mg, works fast, but puts a lot of stress on the liver. It creates fatigue, thus making you less motivated to work out as part of your Cholesterol and weight reduction program. On the contrary, the plan put together by my team of specialists, emphasized diet, exercise, and natural remedies as the primary treatment, and depends less on statin medications such as Lipitor. I started with 5mg of Lipitor and worked up to 10 mg after 4 weeks. A low dose of 10 mg is considered the dose for gradual cholesterol reduction, not rapid cholesterol reduction. Fish Oil supplements contributed to this plan.

I believe that it is not enough to just drop the amount of cholesterol in your blood. That fat in the belly will still be there after a high dose of Lipitor. That belly fat is the nemesis to your heart health. Excessive obesity can eventually make a person a type 2 diabetic, even if diabetes does not run in your family medical history. Just dropping the cholesterol level in your blood will not eliminate high blood pressure. A good diet is essential to the entire program for dropping excess fat, getting blood pressure down to normal, and improving general health. That is why the “medication only” approach along with the booklet off the shelf is a backwards plan.

Any use of statins requires liver tests and Cholesterol tests every 3 months. Why so much concern about the Liver? It is because liver health is essential to cholesterol reduction and weight loss.

Here is the plan:

1. Personal trainer at a fitness center 3 sessions per week, 1 hr each. Includes 30 minutes of cardio, and 30 minutes of weights, cardio somtimes a 30 minute swim. Actually, I changed out my fitness trainer with dancing, and I now do ballroom and salsa dancing 3 times per week, sometimes 4 times per week. This program is all cardio and it has been working. One week, I logged 20 hours of dancing in lessons, events, practices, and public dances, but normally I do 10 hours. Find something you enjoy doing and get out there.

2. Alli, a newer non-prescription fat grabber. One Alli at lunch helps reduce fat absorbtion. Lunch is usually outside the office in a restaurant, so I cannot control the oils and fats in that food. Alli helps counter this problem at lunch by preventing the asorbtion of 25% of the fat. Alli has a negative effect of preventing the absorption of nutritional values in food, so that is why I only use it at Lunch. For dinner, it is better to use a natural fat grabber from Natures Sunshine. This fat grabber is made mostly from natural Psyllinum Husk and has absolutely no side effects. This same Psyllinum Husk ingredient also comes in tasty wafers that you can eat with lunch to soak up the fat. All meds and supplements must be scheduled at least 2 hours from taking any fat grabbers to there will not be conflict.

3. Tailored diet to eliminate Omega-6 oils and fats. Replace all butters, oils, and fats with flax seed oil, but only for salads. I don’t cook with Flax Oil since it destroys the cholesterol reduction benefits. For cooking, I still use a little olive or grape seed oil.

4. Fish Oil Capsules (omega 3). I learned from a one of the PHD specialists that to be effective with fish oil, you must take a lot of these. The best fish oil recommended by oncologists who promote diet as part of a cancer prevention plan, is from this source
www.nordicnaturals.com, catalog number RUS-01750. I am taking 4 of these daily, 2 for breakfast, 2 for dinner.

5. Lipitor 10 mg, but I changed this to 20 mg Pravastatin to further lessen the impact on the liver. 20 mg of this is the same as 10 mg of Lipitor.

6. Oatmeal for breakfast is highly effective at cholesterol reduction. With 2 tbs of powdered Russian milk thistle powder and cinnamon flavoring on top, Oatmeal soaks up fat. This breakfast is not eaten with medications because such high fiber foods can soak up medications you take thus diminishing the effectiveness of those meds. Meds are taken 2 hours later. Milk thistle improves liver health, thus metabolizing food better to reduce fat. Why use Russian milk thistle? It is pure and untouched by pesticides. It is so natural, if you don’t grind it in a coffee grinder (spinning blade type grinder), you might bite into a small piece of sand. Where do you find it? In Russia of course. Go to any health food store in Moscow. It is not sold in the USA. This is an ancient remedy, just like the ancient Chinese remedies. I have someone there who mails me this supplement. Cinnamon helps control your blood sugar. USDA researchers found that people with type-2 diabetes who consumed 1 g of cinnamon a day for 6 weeks (about 1/4 teaspoon each day) significantly reduced not only their blood sugar but also their triglycerides and LDL (bad) cholesterol. The spice's active ingredients, methylhydroxychalcone polymers, increase your cells' ability to metabolize sugar by up to 20 times

7. Pomegranate juice, 3 oz, mixed with 3 oz of red wine and other juices to make a heart healthy sangria,  3 days per week.

8. Purslane on a spinage Mediterranean salad with a vinaigrette dressing of flax oil with honey coated almonds (instead of caramelized walnuts.)

Purslane is high in omega 3. Scientists also report that this herb has 10 to 20 times more melatonin than any other fruit or vegetable tested. Melatonin is an antioxidant that may inhibit cancer growth, but there are no clinical studies on humans yet.

flax oil is high in omega 3 for cholesterol reduction, but not to be overused. Use on salads only. For cooking, grape seed or olive oil is recommended.

almonds contain omega 3

9. Occasional prunes (dried plums). This is know to be good antioxidant which contributes to the cancer prevention, and is a natural laxative if needed.
